The Guora Gate (Megalí Pórtá) is the last surviving central entrance of the Venetian walls in Rethymno, built between 1566 and 1568.
Built by Jacopo Guoro, this 2.60m stone archway served as the main checkpoint of the city. Today, it stands as the symbolic entrance to the Old Town's historic alleys.
It connects the modern city with the Venetian era, leading straight into the heart of the historic center and the famous Ethnikis Antistaseos market street.
